I think it's time for a sick day. Two and a half years into day-jobbing I still marvel at the idea of feeling under the weather and staying home and not working and the decision not lowering my income.
Also, some stuff for illiterates: my 2004 story Skatouioannis is live on Podcastle in audio form. If you can't read this paragraph, have a friend read it for you! CLICK ON THE BLUE BIT, OKAY?
Have I seen this inferior copy of my essay on term paper artists? Yes. Thanks to a seventeen of you for thinking of me! Now you can all stop.
Has anyone noticed underused communities here on LJ suddenly coming back to life with Russian/Ukranian marriage/sex ads? I zapped two from my flist this morning—rdsp2 and horror_novels. The former hadn't been updated since 2005 prior to the ad post and the latter does get some play, but they never covered anything all that interesting.
Today is the release day for Mark SaFranko's Hating Olivia by Harper Perennial. I recommend it highly for people who like their realism in the confessional/gonzo mode a la Henry Miller, Hubert Selby Jr. etc. I discussed one of his other titles a couple of months ago, which was extremely confessional. Confessional enough in that it includes SaFranko's actual address on the last page if you wanted to go visit him. I also continue to be impressed that Harper took up a book originally published by the micro-est of the micropresses, Murderslim.
Also, I got a new oven! It has digital controls and beeps when it reaches the correct temperature. I'm pleased to have it, as I had to relight the pilot on the old one nearly every time I cooked, but I could feel myself growing stupider just by using it (spinach quiche, thanks for asking) last night.
