Playwright, performer, musician, screenwriter and wit-meister Merle Kessler was hospitalized after a serious bone-breaking hit-and-run accident Wednesday. His wife, Amy Kessler, is asking anyone who saw the accident, about 5:45 p.m. at Stanford Avenue and Market Street in North Oakland, to call Oakland Crime Stoppers at (510) 777-8572.
